Foodstock ~ Stop the Mega Quarry !!!

Back on Oct 16, Michael Stadlander (Haisai) had spearheading a farm-based food protest called Foodstock and it's a pay-what-you-can culinary rally against a proposed limestone mega quarry on prime agricultural land. More than 80 members of the Canadian Chefs' Congress was enlisted to cook at the event, including celebrity chefs like Jamie Kennedy, Anthony Walsh (Canoe) and Brad Long, as well as chefs for various popular Restaurants such as Parts & Labour, Enoteca Sociale, Buca and now closed Sakura.

It was cold a windy day and I was sure glad that we got each of us a pair of rainboot since it was so muddy. This is definitely the best food event of the year, normally an event of this calibre would cost over $100 per person but it was pay-what-you-can (minimum of $10)

They highly recommend you to bring your own plate and cutlery to cut down on waste.
Look at this inventive method of serving soup =D It was so hot, dense, creamy and delicious that it warm you right up... what a great start.

Merchants of Green Coffee, nothing beat a cup of hot freshly hand roasted coffee on a cold day.
