Keriwa Cafe

Keriwa Cafe (@KeriwaCafe) have been on my list for a while but had had difficulties in getting a reservation when I wanted to go. And I have to say I loved everything I had and planning to be back real soon to try out their Brunch menu (^_^)
Being Toronto's only Native Canadian restaurant and I really don't know what flavors to expect but apparently I love it (^_^)

"Stepping into the dining room at Keriwa Cafe is walking into a mosaic as rich as
the heritage of Canada's people, Aboriginal and non-aboriginal, that make up
the culinary landscape of our country today"

Short simple menu which I like

Since the weather have been so gorgeous these past few weekends, I couldn't stop myself from walking and exploring all day long while enjoying some sunshine (and getting a little bit of tan)

Food Truck Eats @ Peller Estates Winery

I have been a big fan of Food Truck Eats Event since it all started last year, see my post here & here (and a few that I didn't blog about) and this time there was a colaboration with Peller Estates Winery which I have been numerous of times =P Two of my favorite things at once, I just have to go and the weather was so perfect too (^_^) It was a two day event on this past Victoria Day long weekend and tickets was for $15 including admission, one wine tickets and a souvenir Govino glass.
This is my favorite Food Truck Event so far, not only the weather was record breaking high and at such a beautiful location, but also the line up here was way shorter than the ones in Toronto :)

Enjoying some wine while waiting in line.....yummm

Buster's Sea Cove (@bustersseacove)
Our 1st stop is obviously one of the new truck and an old favorite

Olde Yorke Fish & Chips

I have been to Olde Yorke Fish & Chips a couple of times, even before this blog and it had remain one of my favorite place to satisfied my d fish craves (^_^) It's voted as the #1 Fish & Chips by blogTO and it definetly live up to it's name. The pricing is comparable to the other "grab & go" fish & chips place, here you get to sit down and enjoy the meal while enjoying a pint or 2 of beer which I think it's essential to any deep fried food =P

Clam Strips
I thought the batter was great and tasty but the clams strips was rather small... wich they didn't cut it that small which will make it stand out more in contrast to the batter texture wise.

Kinton Ramen (Soft Opening)

I went to the soft opening of Kinton Ramen (@KintonRamen) just this Wednesday and though I would give you a little preview for those who won't be able to make it to their Grand Opening today (they are already packed for Lunch right now as I'm writing this post). All my friends was asking about the pictures I tweeted and posted on my facebook , so I wanted to give them a more detail look of my visit (I will do a more official review for my next visit).
Kinton Ramen is the 3rd restaurant opened by the owners of both Guu Toronto (@GuuToronto) and unlike the Izakaya style of the two previous, this one is dedicated in serving Ramen.

We arrive at roughly 7:45pm and we were offer space at the standing communal table by the front but we opted to wait for seated. We waited for about 15-20 minutes and that's pretty fast considering how long I waited for Guu.

For those who knows me or follow my blog will know that I always complain about the lack of good Ramen places in Toronto... so I am pretty excited to try this place out and I was not disappointed ♥
Ben aka the bf have only one craving all the time and that's Ramen, so imagine his excitement and especially under a lot of stress lately he consider that the ultimate comfort food.

We were seated right in front of the prep area by the huge pots of broth and OMG it smells so good

Enoteca Maialino

I was looking for a last minute reservation this past Friday and was going through my to-eat list and was lucky enough to find Enoteca Maialino on my 3rd try thanks for Open Table. I hate emailing or calling since you can't almost never readh then, I wish every restaurant are on Opem Table.

It was smaller than I have expected, as we arrive we were told that they don't have any table left and there was only bar seats left even though we had reservation.
(not to mention she had a really bad leave it or take it attitude)

They had a super tiny kitchen and most of the dish are prepared at the side of the bar, wish we were seated there instead =P

Ben decided to order a beer, so I order a 1/2L White for myself and I loved it
Colline Teatine Bianco IGT, Nicola DiDipio Abruzzo

Their Olive Oil was really good and fragrant, perfect with the warm crispy baguette ♥
(I hate when a really good restaurant give you rancid Olive Oil for your bread)

La Salumeria ( 1 for $6 or 3 for $15)
~ choice of 3 salami and 3 cheese
il Crudo di Parma: a traditional 36-month aged prosciutto Crudo from Italy
la Mortadella e il Tartufo: specially-made Mortadella for Maialino, served with shaved Italian truffle
Taleggio: an Italian washed-rind semi-soft cheese (♥ this cheese)

Dandelion

I definetly have a love and hate thing with dandelion, on one hand they are so pretty and fun but on the other hand it triggers my allegies (>_<)

Last week, the weather was so beautiful that I can't resist to take a few pics but I did make sure I took my allegies pill first.

Tasty Tours ~ Chocolate

I have been invited to a 3 hours guided Chocolate tour by Tasty Tour (@tasty_tours) this past Saturday togerther with Amy (@lu_amy7), ChrisUnagi (@chrisunagi), Claire (@clairehohoho) and Manley (@manleyh) etc.
Throughout the tour our guide Audrey Ooi (here in red) introduce to the history, origin, making and all the different types of chocolates

As you may know by now, I've a huge fan of Soma (post here, here & here), but this is my first time to this King St. West location which was a lot bigger and brighter which I love (^_^)

Soma is one of the few artisan chocolate makers in North America that makes small batches directly from the cacao bean. They buy their bean diretly from plantations all over the world.
We were given a detail explanation of the process of turning the cacao bean into chocolates.

We were given a tasting of their dark Peruvian Chocolate which was super delicious #♥Soma
Also bought a Butter Caramel w/ fleur de sel truffles to try, yummmmm

Neon on Neon

I don't know, the combination od bright neon pink together with neon yellow just appeal to me here and I think it's just the right amount of contrast when pair with neutrals like the black here (^-^)

What do you think, too much and perfect?!!??

Porchetta & Co (Soft Shell Crab)

You may have seen me tweeting about this yummy Shoft Shell Crab Po Boy from one of my all time fave sandwich shop Porchetta & Co (see my old post here)
I miss this Sasturday special last year but after hearing all the raves about this, I just have to try it this year and I've been twice since. This is only served during season and around 4pm-5pm each Staurday only, so please make sure to follow their twitter @PorchettaAndCo for all their specials.

The soft shell crab is the freshest you can get with a super thin batter and the light and refeshing coslaw just added a great contrast to the hot, freshly fried soft shell crab.
Please do ask for a gang bang (aks extra porchetta meat on top), it really add so much more flavor and texture especially with the rinds (^_^) It's just heavenly, please go try before the season ends.

This just came out of the oven and I couldn't resist to take of picture of this beauty ♥

Verdict :
MUST TRY !!!

Cafe la Gaffe

It was middle of March and was warm enough to sit on a patio but a lot of patio are either packed or not yet open. We stop at Balwin but the patio was all packed, it started to get rather windy so we end up sitting by the window instead of outside and also because didn't want to wait for a table at Cafe la Gaffe.

This pic was taken when we lest, as you cansee, the sun went back to hiding :(

A narrow space, one side taken up by the bar....

One of my favorite bradn of beer Unibroue.
(just so you know, my fave one is La Fin du Monde)

Freshly Squeezed Grapefruit Juice $3.95

I really don't remember the name, it was their special but was really nothing special. It was some sort of crab meat scrambled egg I think. The poatoes had a slight curry flavor to it which was quite delicious but I found the salad way too overdress and def not the freshest you can have.
