ND Sushi & Grill

Once again got a Groupon Deal for a new Japanese Restaurant : ND Sushi & Grill. I would say their website look better than the actual dishes, I was a bit disappointed, good thing we didn't call for the $80 Omakase. It was in a unattractive neighborhood, no decor whatsoever (very plain), horrible service (all you see whole night is the 2 waitress running around but get nth done) and the waitress English was so bad that they didn't even spend time to present each dishes.

Sushi Platter ~ this is the 3rd place I've been that serve Butter Fish (apart from my favorite Japango & Sushi Couture that I wrote about here) but it's not as good, something is just missing but I'll have to say that it was good quality and very very fresh.... but really nothing special, not worth to travel to mid-town while there's a ton of similar Jap. Restaurant uptown.

Backyard Garden Restaurant (半畝園)

Most of my friends may know that I have Spicy food cravings from time to time...quite often really, almost every week. But Spicy hot food mean either Chinese Szechuan or Korean food. I don't usually take pics of Chinese food and haven't write about any yet. So I decided to start with one of my favorite, it's the Backyard Garden Restaurant (半畝園) at Metro Square, they also have 2 other location, one at Midland & Finch and the 2nd one at Hwy7 & Leslie. But I heard that the Hwy7 location isn't that great, so I never visited although it's right by my workplace.

Above is a cold cucumber dish, it's smashed and drizzle with chili oil, garlic, chopped peanut and sometimes there's peanut sauce too. I'll try to post more Chinese Restaurant reviews from now on.

Spicy Fried Crab
~ a whole Vancouver crab fried with a super spicy sauce, what else you could ask for at $9.99 on top of the super good "Wok hay" (鑊氣)

My Wishlist

My Birthday & Christmas is coming up and here's my wish list....to get all of this I think I need to wind the lottery. Heh, a girl can dream, right (o_O)

Dessert Trends - DT BIstro

Two weeks ago, we headed downtown for our Sunday Brunch as usual and didn't remember it was the Santa Clause parade.... we were stuck in traffic for at least an hour since all the roads are close. So when we notice that we are at Korean Town and a green P near by, we just park and try to find a place to eat. But both of my favorite Korean Restaurant are pack and had a line up, so we head next down to Cutlet House... usually Korean food are pretty standard, not all are great but never bad.... but Cutlet was HORRIBLE... never tasted a worst Gamjatang, it was super salty, non-pork bone flavour and non-spicy when I specifically ask for extra spicy. Feeling not satisfied we were thinking of where to go next to satisfied that void... the crowd has clear and we were driving around when we pass by Dessert Trends... we went for brunch back in April and love there dessert although the brunch items was not that great.... we head in and order 3  and there was only the 2 of us.

The flowers on each table with the bright decor just make you feel happier (^O^)

Mango Passion Fruit Tart ~ did I ever mention that I love really love anything passion fruit and this tart was fill with fresh passion fruit custard and top with mangoes.
So yummmmmmy! OMG goodness!!!
I just don't understand why I could never find passion fruit in supermarket, if anyone know where to buy some please let me know.

Ben order this and I totally forgot what it's called. It was filled with a rich Hazelnut cream and no it's not a donut or bagel... but I didn't really like it although Ben seems to be enjoying it.

Food & Wine Expo 2010

Went to the Food & Wine Expo 2 weeks ago and just want to share some pics... it's my 2nd year go to this Expo, it's just good time spend with go friends & alcohol (^_^) We just took the subway down so that everyone of us can drink and won't need to worry about driving back uptown, which was great since we also save on parking plus we also got to go to dinner together afterward at Utopia (see post here)

Utopia

We told ourselves that we'll have to go to Utopia Cafe next when we were at Frank's Kitchen here since it's was just next door and was pack all night long. And it's voted #3 on blogto The Best Nachos in Toronto list. So after the Food & Wine Expo last week, we headed over. It was full by the time we got there at around 7:00pm (no reservation) and we have to wait at the bar (even more drinks after the Expo). Good thing we came a little bit early, by the time we sat down at the bar, groups of people poured in...

@ the bar waiting :

The bar was right next to the tiny open kitchen, love the colorful plates :

After 15-20 minutes wait as promised,
we got a table at the back and during summer the roof open up as a patio :

I have always love buying affordable accessories/ jewels, anything from bangles,  necklaces, earrings, sunglasses... but never rings. This year, I've started to enjoy wering them especially a few at a time... and I just can't wait to show you my recent purchase. The Alchemy Adderbite Snake Ring that I bought on ebay. I have been going back and forth for a while to buy this or not since it's around $50 and I can only find it online. But as soon as I lay eyes on the real thing, all doubt disappear ♥ Loving it ♥ it's so fierce.
