Love the space at the front bar are and we were seated by the window with great lighting inspite of the gloomy weather but when we walk to the back which was closed, we discover an even more pretty area especially the chef's table by the kitchen. Love the different space from the leather sofas by the bar to the country rustic tiles at the chef's table, the velvet booths at the dinning area and even a hipster corner with copper tiles covered wall.
Broken Stick (@BrokenStickBrew) Tipsy Pale Ale $7
Another local Ottawa brewery, love this easy drinking American Pale Ale with a very citrus-y aroma, toasted malt and a slight bitterness.
CDN Kedgeree $16.00
~ Smoked Rainbow Trout, Curried Wild and Jasmine Rice, Green Peas, Parsley, Duls, Chopped Egg
The fish didn't have much smokey flavor but I want I love about this dish was the rice underneath. Love the perfect mix of rice which gave it a slight rice crust feel, perfect with the curry sauce.
Elk Burger $18.00
~ "Elk Ranch" Elk Patty, Old Cheddar, Seed to Sausage Black Pepper Molasses Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Buttermilk & Peppercorn Ranch w/ Thrice Chips or Wedge
Love everything about this burger except the cheese which was extremely salty and overpowering. The juicy elk patty was so flavorful and delicious while bacon was perfectly thick and crispy, even love the bun so fluffy good.
Bubbles and Squeak $16.00
~ Cabbage + Brussels + Carrots + Turnip + Potato, Fried Egg, Green Salad, Maple Mustard
This is a traditional English dish but I have never had it before and that's why we wanted to try it. I was expecting a more crispy veggie cake but it had a soft and mushy texture which I didn't like.
Verdict:
Love the very Canadian menu and the use if local ingredients
Was quite impress of their non usual boring brunch menu.
Would love to try their dinner menu next time.
