Fran's

Decided to check out the Ice Fest, so we decided to use up our Fran's coupon from Dealicious last month. I've been to the College location before and love the retro looking booths/decor diner but the coupon was only for the new Yonge Street location which was much more modern looking =(

If you have never been, you have to go to the location on College. Oh and did I mention it's open 24/7 (^o^)

 

Fran's Famous Club

~ Grilled chicken breast layered with bacon, lettuce, tomato & pesto aioli on toasted bread 

w/ choice of fries or salad

The chicken was surprisingly moist. Love the ratio of everything and how it's so thick yet didn't fall apart after your first bit (^_^)

This past Saturday was warm enough to toss my winter coat and super thick opaque tights... and bought this pair of knee-high last week just in time.

Kultura

Another FabFind coupon for Kultura, a 3 floor King Street East Tapas style fusion restaurant. I've always been skeptical about fusion cuisine especially Asian but since it was a good deal and read some pretty good reviews about it I decided to give it a try, not to say that it's packed when I pass by the last few time....Let's just say that my idea of Asian Fusion haven't been change......

 Given that they have more than 200 seats, we got the worst table, it was at the corner and we couldn't enjoy the decor or the atmosphere at all... got the stairs on one side and brick walls on the other =(

Heard their Cocktail are really good so I opted for one instead of our usual bottle of wine.

 Melonberry

~ Grey Goose, Melon Liqueur, Strawberries, Cucumber, Cranberry

This was very yummy, very refreshing and surprisingly not sweet (which I prefer).

This was so good that I decided to order Pretty in Pink which contain Sake and they advice me that they didn't have Sake.... so decided to skip =(

Squid Tempura

The sauce was too salty-oily, squid overcooked so it was a bit chewy and it's more like a fritter than a tempura. They also try to give pour the sauce at the table, but the server did a poor job of it and was all over the place (look at the side of the plate)

Aoyama Sushi [Japanese]

I'm surprise that I haven't been to Ayoyama before last week, it's basically one street away from where I live and I'll definitely go back on a very regular basic from now on =P Around 2 months or so ago we decided to drop by to have dinner on a Thursday night and thinking that there's no need for reservation but it was packed, so this time around we made reservation a week in advance (^__^)

MAGURO no TATAKI

~ slightly seared Tuna w/ chili paste on top

Love the vinaigrette w/ the cold tuna together with the tiny bit of heat from the orange chili paste

Monk Fish Liver

~ had no idea what this when ordering, but don't know why as soon as I saw it on the menu, I need to order this (>_<)

It was very rich and creamy, yet at the same time very light and delicate... very silky/velvety to the palette.

Bangs

Got a long due haircut last week and went to my usual salon to ask for a trim... I always ask for a boring trim as long as it doesn't pass shoulder length, but I guess my stylist found it boring and cut my side sweep bangs way too short...it was so bad that I felt like crying (~_~)

I mean, I don't want to look like a "fobe" and "kiddish" looking =(

after a day of trying to styling it, I decided to just sweep it across and wear it as Straight Bangs.

It's a bit more rocker-ish especially when I dyed it super dark black =)

but still, it's rather limited to what I could wear with it.... and it definitely doesn't go with my more girly/ flowery clothes, just can't wait for it to grow back before Spring

Thor

Went to Thor a few weeks ago after having heard so much about the $16,000 Machine called Slayer (super cool name if you ask me). 

There's only 27  Slayers and Thor's 77th (start at 50, so that 27th) and the only one in Toronto. It's handmade to order in Seattle and not Italy like most machines. What's so special about it? You can change pressure manually from zero bars to nine while most machine stay at nine throughout.

The owner was super friendly and chatted with us

(guess it's because it wasn't busy and there was only one customer on a Sat afternoon)

Latte ~ as usual me and my latte

My Opinion, the machine really was something and it was super smooth.... but very lacking in flavor, my fave Latte in t.o. is still Manic and it was ♥-at-first-sip. 

Maybe it's just a personal taste thing but I prefer latte with a darker roast beans, so this is really lacking in flavor and texture (not thick enough) to me.

And really, could have practice more on the latte art too, really not the best looking one
