Lasa by Lamesa [Filipino]

Lasa by Lamesa (@lasabylamesa) located on St.Clair West has a more casual traditional style compare to the original Lamesa which is more upscale and delicate version of Filipino Food.
I have been a big fan of Lamesa since they first open (see post here, here and here) and I was excited to try their new spot and it didn't disappoint. Love the casual bright space!!!

You'll need to order and pay at the counter first, they will bring your dishes over when it's ready.

Lechon Kawali $10
~ fried crispy pork belly w/ pickled papaya and carrot slaw
Make sure to get the chili garlic soy and vinegar dipping sauce to lighten up the otherwise heavy piece of meat. Love the super crispy skin and wish it was slightly fatter since the meat was kinda on the dry side.

Fried Chicken Silog $12
~ garlic rice, duck egg and mixed green salad
This was so good, love the super crispy flavorful fried chicken, the garlic rice was so fragrant without the overly salty soy sauce like some places and love they use duck egg instead of the regular egg. Even without any kind of sauce, it's totally flavorful enough.

Talong $7
~ eggplant w/ black bean sauce served w/ green salad
Never would have though of black bean with eggplant but somehow it goes well from the different texture. There was also a small piece of salted egg on top which was another contrast in flavor and texture.

Although the decor is very simple, love all the simple details like the wooden panels and the frames on one wall.

Verdict:
Loved it especially the Fried Chicken and Garlic Rice
Will definitely have to come back to try their stew and their skewers w/the 7up glaze
And owner Les Sabilano was there when we went and the service couldn't be better or friendlier.
