Quinta

Opened since last summer,I have been hearing good things about Quinta (@QuintaTO), a Portuguese Restaurant on Dundas. Just like many new restaurant, they had minimal decor but a lot more spacious than most.

I only had Macau Portuguese food before, which adapted to our Chinese pallet... so I am not sure what's authentic Portuguese food taste like ?!

They have have a small menu of 5-6 main to choose from and a few more special on the blackboard.

As soon as we sat down, water was pour and snack was served. What a great start (^_^)
The salty deep fried fishies which would be perfect w/ a cocktail or beer, but it was so good that we finished it before even having a change to order,

Malivoire Red Bordeaux Bland 2011 - $38

Charcuterie Board $16
~ Cow's feet terrine w/ egg white center, Pork terrine w/ walnuts, dates jam, Duck liver mousse cover w/ duck fat, duck confit rillette, spicy duck gizzard, chorizo, pickled Shiitake & veggies
It's a deal at that price, everything on this board is made in house with the exception of the chorizo.
Everything was so good, I especially loved their pickled veggies.

Quail $12
~ boneless, stuffed w/ chorizo & veggies
This was their special and I just can't believe how moist and tender it was... cook perfectly and pack with flavor w/ the stuffing and perfectly golden crisp skin.

Pork & Clams $20
~ crispy pork belly, little neck clams & veggies cookies in a seafood pork broth
Love the clay dish and how the crispy pork belly is so nicely display on each clam. Love the thick crispy pork belly and light seafood broth... I would enjoyed it if it didn't have that much dill which gave it a super strong licorice flavor (I don't like licorice). Halfway through I switch with Ben (^_^)

Venison Osso Bucco $28
~ w/ Sao Miguel Barlotto, Roasted Brussel Sprouts
Barlotto is basically pearl barley cook risotto style which is lighter and perfect for the flavor pack venison here. And venison bone marrow anyone?! So good!!! It was fall off the bone melt in your mouth good and the portion is huge.

Poached Pear in Custard Tart w/ goat Cheese $8
Love the thin tart which was perfect after the big portion/heavy meal and love it even more with the goat cheese contrast of flavor, so complimenting.

Verdict :
Love everything of that night except for the heavy hand on the dill.
Already planning to go back soon.
Great Service & Great Value & Huge Portion
