Beaujolais BBQ @ Acadia [EVENT]

I was invited to a Beaujolais Tasting at Acadia 2-3 weeks ago and it was the perfect weather for patio wine sipping (^_^)
Inter Beaujolais' Anthony Collet was there to provide info and descriptions of Beaujolais wines.
We got to taste 12 different wines from the Beaujolais region with food prepared by Patrick Kriss (who has since left Acadia).

We started with Chateau des Jacques, Beaujolais, Grand Clos de Loyse , 2010 while listening to a brief presentation about Beaujolais wines. It was the first time I had a Chardonnay (White) from the region since it's extremely rare (1% from the region)

Afterward we were given 3 wines per course and decide for ourselves which one pair best and just love how everyone had a different opinion.

Creole Shrimp w/ Anson Mills Grits

 Wine#2 ~ Georges DuBoeuf, Beaujolais Fun, 2009
Wine#3 ~ Louis Jadot, Beaujolais-Villages, Combe aux Jacques, 2011

I personally like #2 better with the creamy grits since it had more crisp and juicy taste to it w/ a very smooth finish while #3 was a bit too floral-y.

Cornbread w/ Pork Butter

Don't know what it is but this potatoes are kill-ass.

Piri Piri Chicken Leg w/ Anaheim Chili & Yogurt

Wine#4 ~ Bouchard Aine & Fils, Beaujolais Superieur, 2011
Wine#5 ~ Jacque Depagneux, Morgan, Cote du Py, 2011
Wine#6 ~ Joseph Burrier, Saint-Amour, Cote de Besset, 2009

I thought that #5 was the best with the chicken and it was my fave of the day; it had the perfect purple color with a very fine and dry fruity aroma w/ a bright acidity to it.
While #6 is really good on it's own for drinking; but I thought that it had a dry Cherry flavor which sort of like port with a more serious taste to it

Grilled Eggplant w/ Peanut, Coconut & Curry Condiment

Wine#7 ~ Chateau de Pierreux, Brouilly, 2011
Wine#8 ~ Villa Ponciago, Fleurie la Reserve, 2011
Wine#9 ~ Georges DuBoeuf, Beaujolais-Villages, 2010

I like both #7&#8 with the eggplant, both of them had a very fine and elegant nose which was perfect with the delicate eggplant.

Korean Short Rib w/ Crispy rice, Sesame & Chili

Wine#10 ~ Domaine Manoir du Carra, Julienas, 2010
Wine#11 ~ Domaine du Vissoux, Moulin a Vent, Les Trois Roches, 2010
Wine#12 ~ Domaine Piron-Lameloise, Chenas, Quartz, 2009

Have to say I love the Vintage #10 with the food but not really on it's own... but love #12 on it's own which was really well structure with a very powerful and more masculine flavor to it.

Dark Chocolate Ganache w/ Chantilly Cream & Caramel Popcorn

Thanks to Inter Beaujolais and Renee Lalonde from The Siren Group for inviting me to such a great event. I have always enjoy wine with my BBQ instead of beer and I am so glad to discover so many new ones for summer.
