Love the bar area...
Giordano's House Salad - Starter $3.95
~ Spring lettuce mix, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, arugula, escarole, radicchio lettuces and fresh fennel tossed in a light lemon vinaigrette and topped w/ shaved parmesan cheese
Since we knew that the deep dish pizza will be super heavy and filling, we decided to at least have something healthy... this was nothing fancy but love the mostly lemonvinaigrette which was super light and refreshing.
Chicken Wings "Vesuvio" $8.95
~ Jumbo chicken wings baked with garlic, oregano, lemon, chile flakes, white wine and olive oil
We both actually liked this, it wasn't the super crispy fried chicken wings that we usually gets but it was so flavorful and moist.
Chicago Classic Deep Dish Pizza - Small $19.75
~ Pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers & onions
Note that there's a 40minutes wait on all deep dish pizza, that's why we started with the wings since we were starving. The menu suggested the small serves 2 persons which was probably around 6" only. It tends to be pretty manageable until we bite into it, we were pretty full after our first slice.
The crust is very different from what I am used to, this have a more flaky pastry feel to it. I can barely finish 2 slices of this small pizza and I'm already totally stuffed, Ben managed 3 slices.
Taste and texture wise, I am not a big fan although I love cheese and there's a lot of cheese here....
flavor wise, it was rather bland and nothing special... I love the sheer epicness of it (^_^)
Commercial worthy string of cheese....
Verdict :
It won't be my favorite pizza anytime soon but I think it's still a must when you are in Chicago.
Would love to try Pizzeria Uno next time which some of my other friends highly recommend
Amazing Blog !!

I'm gonna be in Chicago this weekend. We're planning on hitting Gino's east to get our deep dish fix. Hopefully they have more flavorful pizza's. The cheese picture looks amazing though.
ReplyDeleteForget those pizza spots... The best deep dish pizza in Chi-town is Lou Malnati's! Hands down
