Slurping Turtle [Chicago]

I let Ben planned most of the trip and he decided to try out what else but a ramen place.... Slurping Turtle (@SlurpingTurtle)

We got there at lunch hour on a Thursday and the place was packed, we had to wait for around 20 minutes. While waiting I was trying to enjoy the decor, love the industrial high ceiling with a long communal table in the middle and some 2nd floor cube sitting by the window.

Also love the huge antique looking Japanese photographs
.
We are on vacation after all, so we have to order some sake

 Duck Fat Fried Chicken $9
Nothing special, couldn't tell the duck fat

 Tonkotsu $14
~ homemade thin ramen noodle, silky pork broth, braised pork shoulder, pickled mustard greens, braised woodear mushrooms
The noodles was suppose to be made in house but it was really lacking in texture and flavor. The pickled mustard greens remind me of Chinese noodles , the pork shoulder was dry and overcook. The broth just lacked any complexity/layers of flavor (plain) and hate how it was served lukewarm which made everything worst.  I'll have to say that any ramen place in Toronto have better ramen than here (>_<)

 Tan Tan Men Ramen $14
~ homemade thick ramen, ramen stock, pork meatball, pork miso, bok choy, snow peas, bean sprouts

Slurping Turtle is owned and menu desiged by the sameChef Takashi Yagihashi as Takashi which has a Michelin Star rating back in 2010.

Verdict :
It was so disappointing that we don't really remember the exact taste.
Not worth the hype, Not worth my 20 minutes wait
